FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. What happens during a sophrology session?

Each session lasts about 1 hour and is divided into three parts: a short discussion to check in on your needs, a practice guided by my voice, and a free space for final sharing to ground the sensations experienced. The session concludes with the delivery of a personalised audio recording. Note: for those who wish to dedicate more time to discussion and sharing, 90-minute sessions are specifically available.

2. How long does a sophrology program last?

There is no fixed rule, as the journey adapts to your pace and goals. For a specific need, a few sessions are enough to feel immediate relief. On average, a complete and stabilised protocol requires 8 to 10 sessions to establish deep changes.

3. Why is the audio recording of the sessions important?

Sophrology is a psycho-corporal training method: repetition creates the reflex. The more you listen to the recordings, the more easily you learn and integrate the techniques. Eventually, this regularity will allow you to fully own the method and move past the need for audio guidance.

4. Will I have to practice sophrology with a professional for the rest of my life?

No, quite the contrary. The core objective of Sophrelis is to provide you with a practical toolbox so you can become fully independent. Once the protocol is complete, you will possess tools that are yours for life.

5. How do I integrate sophrology into my daily life?

Ideally, formal practice requires a quiet, safe space, sheltered from external stimulation. A typical session lasts an average of 25 to 35 minutes (with certain highly advanced practices lasting up to 50 minutes). However, depending on the protocol and your reality, individuals with more experience learn to break these techniques down into mini-exercises of less than 5 minutes, which can be applied, for example, on public transport.

6. What is the difference between sophrology, hypnosis, and mindfulness?

  • Caycedian Sophrology: It is a unique psycho-corporal method that works on the temporal tridimensionality (past, present, and future) to harmonise consciousness. Furthermore, it allows you to address deep areas such as values, freedom, and dignity. Unlike passive approaches, you remain fully active and conscious to reactivate your intrinsic resources.

  • Mindfulness: It is a primarily meditative and static approach, focused solely on the unconditional acceptance of the present moment.

  • Hypnosis: It induces an altered state of consciousness (trance) to work directly with the unconscious through suggestions, involving a very different level of alertness and posture.

7. How does sophrology integrate with medical or psychological support?

It acts in perfect synergy. Sophrology supports and enhances your ongoing treatments or therapies, or prepares you serenely for a medical intervention. By regulating stress, pain, and emotions, it amplifies the positive impact of your healthcare journey by strengthening your own resources.

8. Can sophrology replace a medical or therapeutic treatment?

By no means. A sophrologist does not diagnose, prescribe, or ever request the interruption of a medical treatment. It is a complementary discipline that supports global health but never substitutes for medicine.

9. Do I need a specific physical condition or clothing to practice?

None at all. As sophrology adapts to each individual's reality, regardless of age or physical condition, movements are gentle and practiced in everyday clothes.

10. Can sophrology be practiced effectively online (remotely)?

Yes, absolutely. Online sessions offer the same effectiveness as in-person appointments. They allow you to practice from the comfort of your familiar environment, which greatly facilitates grounding the exercises within your daily living space.

11. Do you offer sessions for children, and from what age?

Yes, support is available from the age of 7. Sessions are then specifically tailored using a playful approach (games, stories, imagery-based movements) to help them understand their emotions and build confidence, always respecting their pace and dignity.
